History of Davenport Gree Hall

History

Davenport Green Hall is set within fifteen acres of beautiful countryside, which includes Japanese carp ponds and magnificent mature trees. The hall, which was originally built in 1617, is an imposing and historical property and has a most fascinating past.

The battle of the Roundheads and Cavaliers was reputedly planned within the walls of the hall. Many weapons and pieces of armour have been found and are now located within the Cheshire Museums. There have also been three books written about the estate, which can now be found in the library in Hale just a mile away.

The outstanding half-timbered building is characteristic of English vernacular architecture, where locally available resources were used to address local needs.
